What pages does your website need?
1. Home
This is where you create your first impression. It’s where you ‘hook’ your clients by convincing them you have the solutions to their problems.
Read MoreYour home page should be uncluttered, concise and easy to navigate.
Be wary of creating too many distractions, especially pop-up ads that will take viewers away. If they arrived on your website looking for specific information and you immediately distract them, they probably won’t return.
2. About
But also tell them about the people behind your company, especially if you have an interesting backstory on how or why you started the business.
Some entrepreneurs started their business because of a bad experience. This type of story can reassure clients they’re going to get a great service.
3. Services
Explain what you do clearly and concisely, but try to avoid a long list of features.
Instead, focus on your clients and how you can help them solve a problem.
4. Contact
Remember to keep the contact information on your website up to date. When people contact you, always respond within a reasonable timeframe. Set up automatic replies to respond on your behalf outside working hours.
5. FAQ
You could also use your FAQ page to distinguish your business and answer the question: Why should clients use you?
6. Blog
Publishing a regular blog is a great way to prove your expertise. You can also share your blogs on social media to increase their reach.
Read MoreWhere a FAQ provides a concise answer to a question, you can use your blogs to provide a more comprehensive answer.
For example, a financial adviser may have this FAQ question:
What should I invest in?
And provide this answer: “The assets you should invest in depend on how much money you have and how much risk you’re willing to take. It also depends on whether you’re investing for your retirement or to build generational wealth.”
On the blog page, the financial adviser could provide an in-depth answer to the question. For example, the blog could explain:
- That some investments are riskier than others
- That some people handle risk better than others
- That the years you have until you retire impact how much risk you should take
- That some investments require a minimum spend
Ideally, the FAQ question would contain a link to the blog, so if someone wanted a detailed explanation they could easily find one.
