My Yoga Well is a small business that is using the power of marketing to go from strength to strength.

“We give people the chance to step out of their busy lives, and find greater wellbeing in their body and mind through yoga,” owner Ali Briggs-Miller says.

“We help people discover their own capacity for peace, openness and strength, which they take with them off the mat and into the rest of their life.”

My Yoga Well, which is located in the Victorian town of Horsham, has nailed one vital piece of small business marketing – its website. The website is visually enticing, contains a lot of useful information and is easy to navigate. Other small businesses should take note.

Facebook marketing delivering the best results

My Yoga Well does a nice mix of content marketing, social media marketing and print marketing:

  • Emails to subscribers
  • Facebook posts
  • Instagram posts
  • YouTube videos
  • Flyers

This energetic small business also forms collaborations with other local businesses to promote each other’s services.

Facebook posts are My Yoga Well’s most successful type of marketing, according to Ali.

“The ability to share information, events, reflections and link to important or interesting content means it is versatile, and easy to engage with regularly,” she says.

“People are often looking for new and interesting things to do in our local community, so it gives me the opportunity to talk about what I do and be seen. Those who love our classes can also interact with posts, and help draw in new participants by tagging friends and family.”

Face-to-face marketing generated leads and sales

My Yoga Well’s biggest marketing success occurred earlier this year.

“Last January, I ran a few pop-up classes whilst my regular classes were taking a break,” she says.

“The engagement with the Facebook events and the turnout at the classes was fantastic, leading to many new students for the start of Term 1.

“It gave people from different backgrounds the opportunity to give yoga a try, and many of them have become dedicated ongoing members.”

My Yoga Well wants to make its marketing even better

Ali says My Yoga Well’s biggest marketing challenge comes from being both a small business and a new business.

With income limited, and so many marketing opportunities to explore, it can be hard to know where the business should invest its marketing dollars.

Ali also knows there is always room for improvement when it comes to marketing.

“I offer a range of different classes and services, each with different target groups. It would be beneficial to find the language and marketing methods best suited to each group, to help reach potential clients easier,” she says.

“I would also like to grow my email list, and add more online content to reach those outside my local area.”
