Five marketing ideas to increase your turnover

Five marketing ideas to increase your turnover

When your business is low on cash, it’s tempting to cut back on marketing. But in this digital age, marketing doesn’t have to cost the earth, and when done right could reward you with a steady stream of new clients. Here are five ideas to help you make a splash on a shoestring:

1. Set up a Google My Business profile

A Google My Business account helps you harness the search engine’s mighty power. It’s easy to set up and improves your business’ local visibility in any relevant searches. It literally puts your business on the map for free (see example below).

2. Ask for referrals, reviews and recommendations

Word-of-mouth is the most effective form of advertising there is. Personal recommendations from satisfied clients build trust and credibility. The secret to getting more reviews is to ask. Make it easy for your clients to leave a review by including a link on a thank-you email or contacting them directly.

3. Write a guest blog

It’s a little-known fact that media outlets are hungry for content. Turn this to your advantage by pitching a guest blog to a relevant publication or website. This allows you to position yourself as an industry expert and expose your business to a bigger audience. As a bonus, it’ll drive traffic to your website and increase your SEO if you’re able to get a backlink from one of these high-ranking sites. If you’re not confident of your writing skills or you’re unsure what to write about, talk to Hunter & Scribe. We can offer topic suggestions and write the article for you.

4. Get social on online communities

One of the great things about the internet is that there’s an online forum for everything, no matter how niche. Join relevant ones – but keep your marketing subtle. Contribute to the discussion and establish your authority without mentioning your business. Mention your business in your profile or signature instead. Only when the context is right is it appropriate to directly reference what you do.

5. Educate, don’t sell

All your marketing content (whether emails, blogs or social media posts) should be relevant and informative. The easiest way to do this is to give tips and advice. For example:
